Shakeelah Ismail is a writer, researcher, and artist from Cape Town. She holds an Honours degree in Visual Studies at Stellenbosch University, where she is pursuing the same specialised Master’s degree. Shakeelah currently works as a campaigner at Open Secrets, an organisation working against economic crime and human rights abuses in South Africa. Passionate about intersectional and Islamic feminism, climate justice, and their entanglement with art and media studies, her projects and work grapple with a radical hope that lives and breathes against all odds.
