Dr Mbali Mazibuko is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies, University of Johannesburg. She supervises both MA and PhD and is interested in research on African feminisms, rebellion, popular culture, embodiment, affect, sexuality and race, nation-building and belonging. Her work on ‘Rebellious Black femininities’ has generated much interest through which she also writes in the mainstream and academic platforms on various gender and sexuality issues, with a focus on feminist representations in popular culture, media and political spaces.
