Dr Sanah Ahsan is a poet, liberation psychologist and educator whose work plays in the wild terrain of woundedness and the sacred landscapes of falling apart, centering compassion and embracing each other’s madness. Sanah has written for The Guardian and presented a Channel 4 documentary on the over-medicalisation of distress. Their Forward Prize–shortlisted collection, I cannot be good until you say it (Bloomsbury, 2024), meditates on Islam, queerness and goodness. Sanah’s forthcoming non-fiction book with Penguin (2028) explores the politics of distress and society’s relationship with unruly emotions.
