Robert Morrell works in the Office of the Vice Chancellor at the University of Cape Town. His major area of research has been in the field of gender and masculinity in Southern Africa. Most recently he has worked on the geopolitics of knowledge production and Southern Theory and is one of four authors of Knowledge and Global Power (2019).
His current work is in academic development and support at UCT. He founded a mid-career staff support and development initiative, the Next Generation Professoriate (NGP), and also manages for UCT the early career staff programme initiated by the Department of Higher
Education and Training, the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP).
