Loftus Marias is an award-winning poet who was awarded several prizes, including the Ingrid Jonker prize (2009), for his first collection, Staan in die algemeen nader aan vensters. His second collection, Kry my by die gewone plek aguur, was published in 2012. He recently published his third collection, Jan, Piet, Koos en Jakob.
