Joanne Hichens, author and editor, lives in Cape Town. She has edited a number of short story anthologies including crime-thriller collection Bad Company, The Bed Book of Short Stories, and five collections for Short.Sharp.Stories, namely Bloody Satisfied, Adults Only for which she was awarded the 2018 National Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences Award, Incredible Journey, Die Laughing and Trade Secrets. Her crime novels are Out To Score (co-written), Divine Justice soon to be published in the United States, and Sweet Paradise. She features, in her crime novels, Rae Valentine, an ex-junkie amputee turned PI and motivational speaker. Her young adult novels, Stained and Riding The Wave, were both short-listed for the Sanlam Literature Award
