Bettina Wyngaard is an attorney, activist and author. She obtained her BA and LLB degrees from the University of Stellenbosch. Her legal work and activism is focused on women’s rights, with a special interest in gender-based violence.
Her debut novel, Troos vir die Gebrokenes, won the prestigious Jan Rabie/Rapport award for innovative writing in Afrikaans in 2010. Her second novel, Vuilspel, and my third, Slaafs, were published in 2013 and 2016 respectively. She has also contributed to two anthologies, Op die Spoor Van and Adam Small: Denker, Digter, Dramaturg, both published in 2017. The same year her radio drama, Tweede Kanse, was broadcast on RSG. Her most recent novel, Jagter was published in 2019.
