Ziyanda Stuurman is a public policy, policing, and security analyst, and she is author of the book Can We Be Safe? The future of policing in South Africa published in 2021. She has previously worked as a Policy Researcher in Parliament, and as a Policy Manager for Abdul Latif Jameel-Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL Africa) based at the University of Cape Town. Ziyanda holds two Masters degrees in Security Studies and Public Policy and continues to contribute to policing and security research and writing.
