Zéwande Bk. Bhengu is a Johannesburg based Spoken Word Poet who was born and raised in the rurals of the Eastern Cape, Redoubt. Born to a single mother who was a teacher, Zéwande Bk. Bhengu spent a large part of his primary school years as an avid reader and a growing writer of poems. In a bid to nurture and mature his artist self, he moved to Johannesburg where he attended the National School of the Arts (NSA). He began fusing his poetry with performance and took to many stages to perform at the delight of many audiences. After matriculating from the NSA, he went on to study Drama at the University of the Witwatersrand. Bhengu is a multi‐slam winner and recently made the list of Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans.
