Upile Chisala is a Malawian storyteller. She is the author of two collections of poetry and prose, soft magic (2015) and Nectar (2017). Born and raised in Zomba, Malawi, her hope is to tell stories from the margins. Themes she explores include the self, joy, blackness, gender, the diaspora, spirituality, love and survival. She has been featured in OkayAfrica, Essence Magazine and Huffington Post. She lives and studies in Oxford where she continues to write poems.
