Tyler Pike is a Kommetjie based comic artist, illustrator and live caricaturist at events. He used to doodle in his exercise books a lot instead of paying attention in Maths class.
The first comic that he ever published was completed in grade 12 and was called Better Than Fine, an autobiographical comic that gives insights into growing up with cerebral palsy.
He studied Digital Animation at the Animation School for three years. It was here where he strengthened his love for visual storytelling and character design. In 2023 he self published a “silent” comic called Alone in Woodstock which he sold along with his own stickers, mugs and badges at Comic Con Cape Town.
He loves to create whimsical characters and he packs his caricatures with lots of personality. When he’s not drawing cartoons, he loves to depict landscapes around him using fineliner and watercolour. He carries a sketchbook around and likes to sketch the world around him.
Tyler is a freelance illustrator and currently works as a colourist for health and safety comics during the day. He is available for hire as a live caricaturist at events.
