Thando Mgqolozana was awarded the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship, the Golden Key International Honour for scholastic achievement, and selected as one of the Mail and Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans. His books include the novels A Man Who Is Not A Man and Hear Me Alone. A Man Who Is Not A Man was long-listed for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, and was partially adapted into a short film, Ibhokhwe (The Goat), which won the Best Short Film and Best Director of a Short Film awards at the Independent Mzansi Short Film Festival, 2014. His most recent novel, Unimportance, was published in 2014 and is presently enjoying critical acclaim.
