Tau Tavengwa co-founded Cityscapes Magazine, a print publication that focuses on sharing diverse ideas, narratives, and perspectives about cities and the built environment in Africa, Latin America, and South Asia. Since 2010, the magazine has provided a unique Southern perspective on global urbanisation, featuring contributions from academics, policymakers, artists, photographers, architects, activists, journalists, writers, and illustrators with on-the-ground experience in these regions.
Tavengwa is a 2018 Loeb Fellow at Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) and a Research Fellow in Advanced Visualization at Max Planck Institute. He also served as a 2020-22 Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics’ LSE Cities and is a Curator-at-Large at the African Centre for Cities at the University of Cape Town. He has curated multiple exhibitions including the 2022 Lisbon Architecture Triennial’s Multiplicity and Rotterdam Bienale 2016’s Next Africa among others. He has also served in multiple juries including the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023 and is launching CS, a new studio in 2024.
