Sizwe ‘Ginger’ Lubengu is a 29 year old performance artist from Cape Town. After matriculation he joined Music therapy community clinic where he worked as a Creative music facilitator for 3 years. He was also a member of Iqhude theatre company lead by Lihle Manganga from 2005 until late 2007 and was a member of the Africa Jam Theatre Ministries under Loyiso Damoyi’s leadership. Ginger was part of the 2018 Abongile kroza one-hander festival at Makukhanye and graduated the same year from the Magnet theatre programme. He is currently a 3rd year Magnet performer intern. After graduation Ginger accompanied Babalwa Makwetu in her show at 4Roomed Ekasi Culture and Food in Khayelitsha and at the Masambe Theatre at Baxter Theatre. He performed at the National Arts Festival in G7:Okwe-Bhokhwe directed by the legendary Mandla Mbothwe. He’s a hip hop artist interested in musical theatre as well as breaking into the music industry. He hopes to develop and stage a full run of his solo show Rosey which won best production In the youth on top comedy festival in 2015.
