Sisipho Makambi is a poet and writer from Masiphumelele and currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree majoring in IsiXhosa and Anthropology at the University of Cape Town. She started writing in 2013 and started performing in public when she joined the Cape Youth Poetry Hub for Expression and Rythm, also known as C.Y.P.H.E.R in 2015. She has since appeared and performed on platforms such as the Naked Word Festival, Khayamnandi Arts and Cultural Festival, Word n Sound Cape Town, Grounding Sessions and internationally, Brave New Voices. She was the slam champ of the CYPHER slam and second in the Naked Word Slam in 2017. She has since expanded her artistry into music and debuted her own show earlier in March 2019.
