Siphokazi Jonas is a multi-award-winning poet, playwright, actor, and producer based in Cape Town, South Africa. She holds an MA in English Literature as well as an undergraduate degree in Drama and English. Her awards include a producer SAFTA for Best Short Film,
Most Innovative Young Artist by the Western Cape Cultural Affairs Awards, and 100 Sunday World Unsung Heroes. As writer and performer, she has produced numerous poetry and theatre shows, and co-produced two short films. Her most recent stage production, #WeAreDyingHere, was performed at Artscape Theatre, Joburg Theatre, and at the HerStory International Theatre Festival to positive reception. The production was adapted into an award-winning short film, which has screened at numerous international film festivals. She
is also a co-producer, writer, and co-star on the award-winning short film Amagama ka Nokutela, on the life of Nokutela Mdima-Dube. Jonas has been a featured act at poetry sessions and festivals around the world including conferences and festivals in Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, and Nigeria. She was selected as the first Featured Poet at the Poetry Africa Festival in 2021.
