Sean Christie

Sean Christie has been contributing his writing to books, newspapers and magazines since 2007, including the Guardian, City Press, Business Day, African Cities Reader, Cityscapes, Chimurenga, Neue Rundschau, Kwani? and New Contrast. In 2014, he won the business and economics category at the CNN/Multichoice African Journalist of the Year Awards, was highly commended at the 2012 CNN/Multichoice African Journalist of the Year
Awards, and he won the Caxton Press Writer of the Year Award in 2010. A novella he wrote about rural lives under Zimbabwe’s Fast Track Land Reform Program won the University of Cape Town’s Thelma Tyfield Prize in 2000. In 2011, he was awarded the Open Society Initiative of Southern Africa’s Fellowship in Foreign Policy, and in 2012 he was awarded a Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) fellowship. Under Nelson Mandela Boulevard will be available in 2016 and documents a community of homeless Tanzanian stowaways who live under the Nelson Mandela Boulevard flyover.
