Satoshi Kitamura is an award-winning Japanese children’s books author and illustrator. Without any formal training, at 19 he started his career working in advertising as an artist, eventually making his way to London. He translates all of his own work into Japanese and has also translated other authors’ books for the Japanese market. Apart from writing and illustrating children’s books, he has been commissioned for various projects including Tokyo Underground posters, signage at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and designing stationery.
