Ryan Haynes grew up in Malawi and is a freelance designer who studied Fine Art at Rhodes University. He recently returned from living in Thailand for three years where he explored the untouched cultures of the land of smiles, while using his background in digital arts to bring iBook formats to students using iPads as a means of education. Being involved with projects that have all been self-published in both literary magazines (Jiggered) and children’s books (The Girl Without A Sound), Ryan has been using his knowledge and experience to bring to life the stories and words through the collaborations with illustrators and authors in Cape Town. Recently publishing a graphic short written by Buhle Ngaba (Blood Labyrinth) about the realities that woman face on a daily basis – he hopes to continue creating relationships and solid collaborations with fellow artists in South Africa to tell their own stories.
