Ron Irwin is an American who grew up in Buffalo, New York and has taught at the University of Cape Town Centre for Media Studies since 2009. He has worked as a freelance writer and has published hundreds of articles both online and offline. His nonfiction work has appeared in CNN.com, Brandchannel.com as well as the South African editions of GQ, Men’s Health and FHM. His first novel, Flat Water Tuesday, was published with St. Martin Press in 2013 in the USA and was a Target Book Club Pick for May, 2014. It sold widely in South Africa. The novel has been optioned to film, which is now in development. He is represented by Tris Coburn at the Tristram C. Coburn agency and Jon Cassir at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in Los Angeles. His most recent novel, My Side of the Ocean, was published in 2023.
