Phillip Voegt was born in Peninsula Maternity Hospital District Six, Cape Town on 14/05/1953. His family was forcibly removed from District six to 79 Plumbago street Bonteheuwel in February 1963. He is an an ordained pastor of the AFM church in Bonteheuwel and is currently serving as an active -emeritus in that assembly. He has also serve as a community worker in Bonteheuwel and surroundings. He is a member of the Bonteheuwel religious fraternal, a member of Lily Haven old age home committee, and presents a high school preparedness programme at primary schools. He serves as vice-chairperson on his church governing body, and as a spiritual worker at the Goodwood correctional services from Monday to Thursday.
