Njabulo Ndebele is an established and influential author and a key figure in South African Higher Education. His books include Fine Lines from the Box, The Cry of Winnie Mandela and Fools and Other Stories. He was Vice-Chancellor and Principal at the University of Cape Town from 2000 to 2008. He has served as President of the Congress of South African Writers, as Chair of the South African Universities Vice-Chancellor Association (2002 – 2005) and has served on the Executive Board of the Association of African Universities since 2001. He recently became president of the AAU and Chair of the Southern African Regional Universities Association.
He is part of the Edinburgh World Writers’ Conference programme (20 – 21 September)
