Mondli Makhanya is editor-in-chief of City Press newspaper. He began his career at the Weekly Mail in 1990 where he covered politics and business. After a stint at Newsweek in New York he joined The Star as political writer and later as deputy news editor and executive editor.
Makhanya was one of the founding editors of Sunday World before moving to Sunday Times as political editor. He has served as editor of the Mail & Guardian, as well as editor-in-chief of Sunday Times and Times Media Group. He also served as chairperson of the SA National Editors’ Forum and treasurer of The African Editors’ Forum.
