Miranda Madikane is a graduate of the University of Cape Town with a BA in English and Drama. As a young graduate she worked as a stage manager at most of the big theatres in Cape Town eventually co-founding the theatre company Third World Bunfight and leading it as production manager. After the birth of her first daughter she worked part-time as the Communications Officer for Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council and part-time for Scalabrini Centre as Development Manager. She took over the Directorship of Scalabrini Centre in 2007 and has led the organisation since.
