Mandisa Haarhoff completed her PhD at the University of Florida on a Fulbright Scholarship. Her teaching centres on African literature and diasporic literatures. She holds a Masters in Drama from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her background and creative practice are in videomaking, acting and playwriting.
