Luso Mnthali was born in Malawi and grew up in Botswana. She obtained a BA English Language and Literature from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, USA and also has an LLB from the University of Pretoria. She has worked as an assistant editor at Books Live, an editor at This Is Africa, and has written for The Huffington Post, New African Woman, O the Oprah Magazine, Sunday Times, Clutch, OkayAfrica, Equal Times and Essence Magazine. Her short stories have appeared in South African and Canadian anthologies, and she was an editing consultant on a book of short stories and poems by Tanzanian author Sandra Mushi titled Stains on My Khanga. She is a former contributor and editor at Afripopmag.com. She lives in Cape Town.
