Khadija Heeger

Khadija Tracey Heeger is a poet, actress, facilitator, cultural activist and writer who hails from the Cape Flats. She has performed and written two multimedia poetic/theatre pieces, Stone Words (commissioned in 2007 for Spier) and Uhadi (Paris, 2013 Festival d’Automne, with Toni Stuart, Ncebakazi Mnukwana and Christopher Ferndale). Stone Words was also taken to Grahamstown in 2009. In 2013 Modjaji Books published Khadija’s first poetry collection Beyond the Delivery Room. Her second poetry collection is due in 2019.

She is featured in the Kyknet Series Sarah se Geheim (Sarah’s Secret). She continues to collaborate with organisations like the Jazzart dance company and her most recent dance drama performance with them is the Cape of Ghosts for which she has written the poetry and tells the story on stage with the dancers. This will be featured at the Grahamstown Arts Festival in June/July this 2019.

Her professional poetic journey spans 20 years or more and she is devoted to transformation and true integration.
