Ken Barris is a writer, poet, critic and researcher. He has published five novels, a collection of short stories and two collections of poetry. His short stories and poems have been published in several journals. He has won various literary awards in South Africa for short and long fiction and poetry, including the M-Net Book Prize, the Ad Donker Award, the Ingrid Jonker Prize and the Thomas Pringle Award. He has been shortlisted twice for the Caine Prize for Writing in Africa, and for the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize (Best Book Africa).
His most recent short story collection, The Life of Worm & Other Misconceptions, was published by Kwela in 2017.
