Karin Schimke’s poetry has been widely published in South African literature magazines, including New Coin, New Contrast and Carapace, and has been featured in Paris Lit Up magazine, on Badilisha Radio and on the Dutch/Flemish poetry site Oote Oote, amongst others. For four years, she ran the weekly Cape Town poetry gig Off The Wall. She has performed at the Woordfees, Badilisha Poetry Exchange, the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees and poetry-on-the-road in Bremen, Germany. She writes in English and Afrikaans. Her debut collection Bare & Breaking appeared in 2012. She works as a journalist and is the editor of the Cape Times books pages.
