Born in Angola, José Eduardo Agualusa is a writer and journalist who splits his time between Portugal, Angola and Brazil. His books have been translated extensively and The Book of Chameleons won the 2007 Independent Foreign Fiction prize. Unfortunately only four of his titles have thus far been translated into English. In 2006 he set up the Brazilian book editor Língua Geral, which only edits books originally written in Portuguese.
