Dr Jacinta Delhaize is an astronomer and science communicator at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She was appointed as a lecturer there in 2022, after completing postdoctoral positions in Croatia and South Africa, and her PhD in Australia in 2014. She is the co-creator and co-host of The Cosmic Savannah Podcast, showcasing Afro-centric astronomy. She lectures a third-year undergraduate course on Galactic and Extragalactic Astronomy and leads a research team of postgraduate students called RADHIANCE. They use South Africa’s world-leading radio telescope MeerKAT to understand how galaxies have changed and evolved over the history of the Universe.
