    Gillian Slovo

    Gillian Slovo is a South African born novelist, playwright and memoirist. Red Dust (2000) explores the South African Truth and Reconciliation commission and was made into a film. Her memoir, Every Secret Thing (1997) is an account of her childhood in South Africa and her relationship with her parents, Joe Slovo and Ruth First. In addition to her writing, she is the 25th president of English PEN.
