Gaireyah Fredericks was one of the recipients of the Neville Alexander prestige awards in 2020 for her contribution to the validation of mother tongue as a tool to unite. Fredericks is well-known in the local literary landscape for her poetry, and regularly reads her work at many festivals including the McGregor Poetry Festival and Woordfees. She is part of Diana Ferrus’ poetry group, Mengelmoes. She recently completed her MA in Creative Writing at Rhodes University. Een voet innie kabr is her first short story collection.
