Gabe Gabriel

Gabe Gabriel is a queer writer, director, and actor who has penned feature-length works for US, Canadian, and South African producers and was the lead writer on the Netflix series Mandala Murders. Following his directorial debut — South Africa’s first gay romcom — Gabe wrote and starred in his semi-autobiographical film, Runs In The Family, which bowed on Netflix in 2023 and went on to be nominated for Outstanding Film at the 35th GLAAD Awards. In recent years, Gabe has been selected to develop original TV show concepts for the Realness Institute’s Netflix Episodic Lab and the Canada-South Africa co-development fund, to pitch for Film Independent’s Fast Track, and to write and direct an original short film for the British Film Institute’s More Films For Freedom fund. Since coming out as transgender, he has landed international acting roles opposite the likes of Zazie Beetz, Glen Powell, Patricia Arquette, Myha’la, Ken Jeong, and Dave Bautista.
