David Griessel graduated with a bachelor of Fine Art from the University of The Free State. He has had 6 solo exhibitions and has participated in many group shows. He has exhibited in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Grahamstown, Stellenbosch, Bloemfontein and Kimberley.
Prestigious institutions that have presented his work include Oliewenhuis Art Museum (Bloemfontein), William Humphreys Art Gallery (Kimberley), Oude Libertas Gallery (Stellenbosch) and Bennet Contemporary (Cape Town).
In 2013 he was a regional finalist in the Absa Atelier national art competition.
He currently works as an artist/writer in Cape Town and is the art editor of the literary journal New Contrast. He is part of the artist’s collective, Studio Clowder.
