Danie Marais is a freelance journalist and poet. His first volume of poetry, In die buitenste ruimte, was published in 2006 and received the Eugène Marais, Ingrid Jonker and UJ Debut Prizes. In 2007 he was invited to the Poetry International Festival in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He also participated in Poetry Africa in Durban in 2007. Solank verlange die sweep swaai is his most recent collection.
