Christine Coates holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Cape Town. Her poems and stories have been published in various literary journals. Her debut poetry collection Homegrown, received an honourable mention from the Glenna Luschei Prize. Her poems have been selected for the EU Sol Plaatje Poetry anthologies every year since its inception as well as for Best “New” African Poets 2015, 2016 Anthologies. Her short story “A Night to Remember” won the runner-up prize in The Short Story Is Dead! Long Live The Short Story! Vol. 2, 2016. “Under the Rialto” won first prize in the All about Writing, July 2016, competition. She was a judge in the PEN International New Voices Award 2016.
Her new collection of poetry, Sixty Leather Wings, is due in 2018.
