Chase Rhys

Chase Rhys is an author, columnist and playwright from Ocean View, Cape Town. His debut novel Kinnes published by Kwela Books in 2018 was the winner of the K. Sello Duiker Prize at the 2019 South African Literature Award (SALA) and the kykNET-Rapport boekprys. In 2020 Chase started writing bi-weekly column called ‘Suikewate’ for Rapport newspaper. Chase’s play ANDY was produced at the Amsterdam Storytelling Festival in 2019 and 2020, his play script Kinnes won the Adam & Rosalie Small award for best debut writer in 2017. His short stories have appeared in They Called Me Queer (Kwela 2019) and Die Nuwe Afrikaanse Prosaboek (Human & Rousseau 2019).
