Bonginkosi Madikizela worked as communications officer and spokesperson in Cape Town Mayor’s Office, Helen Zille between 2006 and 2009 before becoming a member of the Provincial Legislature. He served as the longest Provincial Human Settlements Minister in the country, having served from 2009 to 2019 after being reappointed by Western Cape Premier Helen Zille for a second term in 2014. He is currently the Western Cape Provincial Leader for the Democratic Alliance. He is the new Minister of Transport and Public Works appointed by Western Cape Premier Alan WInde.
Before his political career, he served as an Executive member of the Khayelitsha Development Forum for five years, where he liaised with local provincial governments on housing projects, economic development and informal settlement services.
