Berenice Roman comes from humble beginnings in Hanover Park, and is proud of her achievements. The first of six children, she had to leave school at the age of fourteen to help support her family. She worked in the clothing industry for more than twenty-two years, before the company she worked for liquidated in 2003. This left her unemployed for four years. While that time was a struggle, she used it to think about her life purpose and how she would like to empower herself and make a positive difference in someone else’s life.
Since then, she has completed her matric, and following that, went on to study at the University of South Africa, where she got a degree in Criminology. She contributed to Ken Jy Vir My? This Is My Story.
