Amy Brown Hendrickse is a tri-continental descendent of munificent medicine women and Islamic craftsmen. Brown grew up imagining in the Fynbos surrounding a seaside lobe of the Cape Flats called Strandfontein. The queer storyteller’s voice is a homage to this lineage channeled through Hip Hop’s Knowledge of Self teachings. Contributing to multilingual anthologies as scribe and creative producer has empowered Brown’s artivism: transmuting visibility into representation.
2024 sees them re-collecting recipes and stories for their (debut) anthology – Kummbuis Taal.
