Nadia Hashimi‘s parents left Afghanistan in the 1970s, before the Soviet invasion. She was raised in the United States, and in 2002, made her first trip to Afghanistan with her parents. Her debut novel, The Pearl That Broke Its Shell, was an international bestseller. When The Moon Is Low, followed in 2015. Her latest novel, A House without Windows, is due in 2016, as is her first YA novel, One Half from the East.
