Pieter-Dirk Uys – author, actor and activist – was born in Cape Town in 1945 and has been in the theatre since the mid-1960s. He has written and performed 20 plays and over 30 revues and one-man shows throughout South Africa and abroad. He is particularly well known for his character, Evita Bezuidenhout a white Afrikaner socialite and self-proclaimed political activist. He recently published Panorama, a novelisation of his 1987 play.
