Valda Jansen was raised in Strand and now lives in Cape Town. She obtained her honours degree in German and taught the subject for several years. Thereafter, she was a journalist, a writer at the SABC and an editor at RSG. Her poetry has been featured in various publications and a short story was published in Boeke-Insig. Hy kom met die skoenlappers is her debut novel.
