Based in Vancouver, Steven Galloway will be joining Open Book courtesy of the South African Association of Canadian Studies. He has published three novels, Finnie Walsh, Ascension and most recently, The Cellist of Sarajevo. It was nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, longlisted for the 2008 Scotiabank Giller Prize and won the 2009 Evergreen Award, the George Ryga Award for Social Awareness in Literature and the Borders Original Voices Award. He teaches for the University of British Columbia Creative Writing programme.
