Khadija Tracey Heeger is a performance poet grown on the Cape Flats. She has performed and written two multimedia poetic/theatre pieces, Stone Words (commissioned in 2007 for Spier) and Uhadi (Paris, 2013 Festival d’Automne, with Toni Stuart, Ncebakazi Mnukwana and Christopher Ferndale). In 2013 Modjaji books published Khadija’s first poetry collection Beyond the Delivery Room. She has been commissioned to write for Infecting the City on land, the World Economic Forum on Africa, the formation of a human rights NGO focusing on Human Trafficking to name a few. Her professional poetic journey spans more than 12 years and she is devoted to transformation and true integration. She continues to work in Heritage, Arts and Social development sectors and has recently joined Bonfire Theatre company.
