Mosibudi Mangena is an academic and anti-apartheid activist and former president of the Azanian People’s Organisation (AZAPO). He served as Deputy Minister of Education (appointed in 2001) and Minister of Science and Technology (appointed in 2004). Mangena’s previous books include My Grand Mother is Permanent (2004); A Twin World (1996); Quest for True Humanity (1996); and On Your Own (1989). He is the founder Chairperson of the South African National Literacy Initiative (Sanli), as well as the Masifundesonke Reading Campaign in 2001. Triumphs and Heartaches was published in 2015.
